Some Essential Recommendations to Blogging

India as a fashion loving country has over the years seen a drastic change in the landscapes of designing, photography, styling, makeup and other domains from the industry. However, what has proved out to be as a stand-out point or even a top contributor (if I may say so), for the immense growth and highlighting these domains to be adopted as a full-time career, is the emergence of people who can write kick-ass stuff about them.

The editorial level of fashion journalism has no doubt reached to a whole new level in India, especially in the last decade or so. Though advertorial have played their part too and the industry in shifting majorly in that direction, but then, there is no bigger satisfaction than writing about something with an unbiased opinion, which has its own share of hatred that comes from the people you don't write about in a sugar-coated language.

But well, that is just an individual opinion!

What I really want to acknowledge via this post though, is the nascent of the new generation of fashion bloggers that is taking the industry by storm. That being said, while searching on Google, you would also come up to a lot many fashion blogs in india that might be rich on content (quantity wise), but tick off the interest level of the readers via their shady look, appearance and overall presentation.

It is utterly important to set-up specific guidelines for your blogs to know your particular audience that is waiting for your new post to be uploaded. In addition, giving them some initial ideas on topics could be a very helpful tool in gazing out their opinion and acceptance to the story that you plan to pen down.

Keeping that in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to, may be, throw a little light on how you can make your blogs look more presentable and make the readers visit your portal again!

Formatting:
In order to make the process more specific and efficient, it is important to outline specific formatting procedures, such as, how the pictures are to be submitted (size, type), if videos can/should be used, how paragraphs must be written (headings, bullet points, sub heads). Word count is the most important factor here, as readers might not be interested in reading every post by you that consists of 500 words and so on. Give them pictures that depict the theme of the story and can leave a lasting impression on the mood of the reader. Make sure that pictures are large enough in size and do not make the readers to stress on their eyes to see the finer points of them.

Sources
If you are using other sources to back up your thoughts, then you should give the hyper-link or sources at the bottom (however you prefer) of the story. There is a simple mantra to blogging when it comes to generating traffic and that is – keep your peers in loop and they shall return the favor. Linking back is usually helpful to cross-promote content not only from where you source the content from, but also the others who are going to do the same while they take ideas from your blogs.

Posting periods
It makes no sense in uploading one post and then taking 20 days to pen down another one. A reader will only take you and your blog serious, provided you give them enough content to think about at a constant and digestible pace. Plan your stories at least a week in advance and use various social media tools to make sure that you reach the larger pool of readers that have interest in your domain of writing.

Make it interactive
Another thing to consider is letting your readers be more interactive with you, not only on your blog but also on your fan pages on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumbler etc. Get them involved via contests and offer them a prize (only if you could fit that in to your pocket). Let them be the guest bloggers, post their pictures, share their opinion on a specific topic and things so on.
